Shanghai Guimu Robot Co. Ltd: Security Guard for Capital Intensive Infrastructure in the Intelligent Age

Gui Zhongcheng, Founder & CEO, Shanghai Guimu Robot Co. LtdGui Zhongcheng, Founder & CEO
Construction and maintenance organizations are successfully accelerating business operations with the help of inspection robots to safeguard roads, airport and railway tracks. With the ever-increasing demand for new routes, robots are eliminating the tedious manual process of inspecting pavements for its physical strength. However, in this intelligent age, these organizations are tasked with the uphill challenge of precisely locating voids and potholes on pathways around the complex outdoor environments and gather defect data from different sensors for further analysis. Leveraging these data sets can enable firms to devise pavement life-cycle models and conduct precise preventive maintenance, improve service life, and in turn, reduce overall operating costs. This is where Guimu Robot makes its mark by providing autonomous robots that use 2D/3D vision systems, ground-penetrating radar (GPR) and multi-sensor data fusion technologies to identify problems associated with different infrastructure/survey lines.

Guimu Robot provides a wide range of equipment that can be deployed to perform surveys on land, sea, and air. Its product portfolio includes pavement detection robot, sewage pipeline inspection robot, railway facilities inspection robot, cable-climbing detection robot, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) routing inspection system, and underwater detection system. The company’s pavement inspection robot helps companies to map the entire plane of pathways seamlessly. “Unlike traditional way, the inspection robot covers a comprehensive ground to detect hidden flaws in multiple pavements,” explains Gui Zhongcheng, founder and CEO of Guimu Robot.

Our robots are transforming the way day-to-day business activities are performed, eliminating manual processes with advanced automated systems and helping organizations to reduce maintenance costs and ensure the safety of infrastructure operation

The firm’s pavement detection robot autonomously performs inspection of roads and airports’ runways on a planned path by using high precision location and navigation technologies. Further, data sets from different sensors can be merged with one another and analyzed to identify internal defects of ground-based infrastructures.

“Our robots are transforming the way day-to-day business activities are performed, eliminating manual processes with advanced automated systems and helping organizations to reduce maintenance costs and ensure the safety of infrastructure operation,’’ says Zhongcheng. Embracing the utility of these solutions, various companies can operate safely and efficiently even in an adverse environment. All these robotic systems provide features to analyze survey data, generate reports, and carry out various task management processes for increased productivity and safety.

Guimu Robot has piloted comprehensive defect diagnosis and automatic recognition of pathway irregularities for several industries ranging from airports to railways to sewage pipeline. One of the many success stories scripted by the company is that of a South China Airport, where the client deployed Guimu Robot’s fleet for a full coverage of their runway and detected voids accurately. A total of 23 voids were identified, which were spread below the pavement surface. It further provided a scientific perspective for the formulation of a grout repairing plan and achieved precise fixes for cracks and voids. These helped the client in improving the quality of pavement and avoid dreadful hazards.

To similarly assist its clients and lay the foundation for the company’s diversified advancement of integrated systems in the future, Guimu Robot has developed products that can track facilities’ health and repair cracks on pavements. “We are committed to developing innovative robot systems and purvey comprehensive three-dimensional robotic solutions for infrastructure maintenance and take the lead in global market,” concludes Zhongcheng.
